Customer demand for that hand peeled look continues to challenge manufactures of log home components. Over the past decade W.G. Benjey, Inc. has focused its attention to the needs of the log home manufacturer with the introduction of the following equipment:
Benjey's series of German Style Log Peelers are a cost effective way for manufacturers to boost their production. The 3250 Peeler has been recognized for its ability to obtain the hand peeled look on log and siding profiles as well as railing and spindles. A smaller version, the 2030 Peeler, has been developed specifically for log furniture railings and spindles. the 2450 Peeler, offers the perfect combination between performance and price. The 8" blades will easily face 10" siding along with log furniture posts, railings, and spindles.
There is only one drawback to the German Style series of peelers: They are somewhat limited to smaller logs that can be hand fed into the machine. As a solution to this problem, W. G. Benjey has designed long log peelers, including the 2430LLP, which allow an operator to efficiently peel logs up to 24 inches in diameter and 60 feet in length. These large machines have many options available and are generally custom built to suit the customer's needs.
While operators can easily use one of our German Style peelers to face pre-molded siding profiles, W. G. Benjey has designed systems specifically for this application. The 2023HH and 2023HPS Log Siding Finishing Systems are fully automated, with controls that allow an operator to customize the look of the finished product. These machines drastically increase production without sacrificing the "hand peeled" effect.
In addition to our log peelers, we have other woodworking equipment to offer: Tenon Cutters, Tenon Cutting Heads, Gang Saws and Universal Blade Sharpeners to mention a few.
W.G. Benjey, Inc. has been providing industry with special machines since 1961. If you have an idea or problem area, we will be happy to modify any of our existing product line or provide concepts and budgetary pricing for any special machine.

German Style Peelers Introduced at the 54th annual logging congress in Escanaba, Michigan, the W. G. Benjey Inc. brand German Style Peeler has become increasingly popular with log home manufactures. These machines are designed for quick and efficient peeling of smaller logs, 12" or less in diameter. If you are presently peeling by hand, this machine will increase production dramatically.
Model 3250 - The "workhorse" of the Benjey German Style Peelers, this model features a 32" wheel to easily face material between 2" and 12" in diameter.
Model 2450 - This mid-size peeler is perfect for most peeling applications. The 24" wheel will handle material up to 10" in diameter, while offering great performance at a lower price.
Model 2030 - The smallest of the German Style Peelers, this model has been designed specifically for log furniture railings and spindles. The 20" wheel peels logs up to 8" in diameter.
Long Log Peelers This series of peelers is specifically designed for larger logs which cannot be hand fed into a machine by a single person. These machines can easily handle logs up to 24" in diameter and 60 feet in length. Long Log Peelers come with several options and can be custom designed to meet the customer's needs.
Model 2426 - In this configuration, the work piece is supported at each end by roller saddles. Driven rollers at the head end allow the log to be turned, while the saddles can be raised or lowered to match the size of the log. The cutting head is mounted to a space frame that rides on tracks common to the base frame. This allows the head to travel the entire length of the frame.
Model 2430 - With this machine, the cutting head is limited to 14 feet of travel. Driven rollers not only allow the log to be turned, but also shuttled to the left or right. Logs are loaded onto the bed from one end of the machine and can exit on the other end, which gives an assembly line effect. Logs of varying length can be used without having to make adjustments.
Model 2430LLP - The largest version of the long log peelers, this model allows the option of a log turning chuck over the standard turning rollers. The cutting head is suspended from tracks that run the entire length of the frame, which allows more flexibility and clearance in the working area.
Log Siding Finishing Systems These machines are designed to give your pre-molded log siding profiles a finished hand peeled look. Fully automated and customizable to fit your needs, the Log Siding Finishing System can drastically increase production without sacrificing the quality of your product.
Model 2023HH - This machine is designed to create a "hand hewn" or "hand scalloped" look on the face of pre-molded siding. Three long-sweep disc-style cutting heads shape the material while it rides on a tilting belt conveyor.
Model 2023HPS - Opposed to the shorter and more curved features of hand hewn material, this machine gives the look of logs peeled using a standard draw knife. Longer, straighter cuts are achieved using a series of straight bore, arbor type cutting heads.
Rugged yet simple to operate, the gang/rip saw manufactured by W. G. Benjey is one answer to increased production demands. Originally designed for ripping paint paddle material, the unit has been used to manufacture yardsticks, blinds, and stakes.
While wood shaping machinery is readily available, custom machines can sometimes be more productive. The unit pictured at the left was manufactured to shape paint paddles. It can accommodate 8 1/2 in. to 24 in. long product...with no change in setup!!
Computer numerically controlled machines are sometimes the answer. This unit was manufactured to shape vinyl chair mats. Using the latest in CNC technology, the unit is capable of many cutting and shaping process requirements.
Another example of productivity enhancements, the W. G. Benjey gangsaw/edger is capable of running two separate setups at the same time. While powered electrically or engine driven, the unit is a cost effective tool for any saw mill.
